Whose window is it anyway?

I work from home ever so often. This means I take time off from my colleagues and do a bit of documentation or programming. But once in a while I find that I just cannot concentrate...

Sitting in a comfortable chair, the radio tuned between Jazz and Classic Rock, I find that work is the last thing on my mind. Too guilty to go out for a shopping spree or maybe even a 3 hour lunch, I stay semi-attached to my laptop replying to work emails and surfing the web!

Today the weather is very "seattle-like". Its not so much raining as it is mist-ing. The drops of water are almost microscopic as they fall down on the evergreen leaves of trees. The bushes once laden with blackberries are now bare of the delicious fruit. (Or maybe its because the rabbits have stocked up for winter!) Fall is almost over, and the "filler trees" have lost their leaves. I can now see the Cascade range from my window. Snow lies atop its delicate peaks once again. Winter is not far away for us on the lower altitudes ...

My friend's puppy who we are 'dog-sitting' is curled up at my feet. She looks up at me and tries to jump onto my lap. I sneak a look around to make sure Hubby is infact at work and then let her plop hereself on my lap while I stroke her glossy coat, hmmph! I bet that comes in use on a chilly day like this! A little bitter dark chocolate and Bono belting out "With or Without You", I am at peace. Contented. The doorbell is ignored. (If its someone important, they know the keycode to get in!)

Sometimes, I need days like this just to reconnect with the simpler side of ..... myself ...
