Playing hard ball = Hard to play ball?

And just when I thought it was safe to put my hand down ...

Hubby and I team up with another couple to ease our tennis rackets, dusted from its winter hibernation to our first game of the summer! Now being the natural athlete (!!!) that I am, I decide to spare the guys the embarassment of losing to a gal and watch from the sidelines for a bit (Sizing up who wipes the court with the other, so I can(not) play with him!)

As I stood there, I delved into nostalgia, of how I used to play batmington all through school ...

Phys Ed was a time to gossip, catch up on the latest fashion trends, Mariah Carrey lyrics and ofcourse a time to catch up with ones 'crush'. But not your truly. I used to single out some of the other 'abnormal' gals and we used to play. One on one matches with wrist numbing, shoulder swinging action! It wasnt unusual to see me play 2 hours back to back without even a water break.

That was until the wrist injury. The doctor said there was nothing he could do about it, normal wear and tear he said. Somehow I couldnt bring myself to giving up on the game entirely, but I backed out of the team and the afternoon practice sessions. I tried taking up Ping-Pong but it did not provide an outlet for my energies I guess, so that didnt stick.

Hubby loves to play. Tennis, Racquet Ball, Volley Ball, Pool, Frisbee you name it! And his being 1000 inches tall helps! (Yeah even in FRISBEE!) With my weak wrist in a brace, I now try to strengthen it by hitting the tennis ball against a practise wall while he plays a feverish game with a friend. (He plays with me after, all the while telling me that I will beat him anyday now)

Oh and did I mention I also tore a ligament on that same wrist during college?!

Just you wait Hubby, coming soon to a (tennis) court near you ... I'll be back in full form and (wrist) function!
